Homecoming Day battle closes .500 week

NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – Six different Manchester University athletes registered shot attempts, leading the Spartans' offense in a 4-0 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference loss against Rose-Hulman Saturday, Oct. 8.

The sextet of seniors Kolton Hawks (Peru, Ind.) and Ola Ladapo (London, England), junior Nate Johnson (Portage, Ind.), sophomores Drake DeWitt (Columbia City, Ind.) and Ben Niederhelman (Ross, Ohio) and freshman Alex Baker (Fort Wayne, Ind.) all attempted to break through on the Good Field scoreboard for the home team but were denied by a stingy Fightin' Engineers defense over the 90-minute span. Junior goalkeeper Brady Forman (Hastings, Mich.) kept the match-up scoreless for the opening 10 minutes until a pair of visiting tallies from the 10th to 20 minutes broke up the draw.

Coach Corey Brueggeman's side takes to the road for a pair of league contests Wednesday, Oct. 12, and Saturday, Oct. 15. They're at Franklin College for a 7:30 p.m. start Wednesday and Transylvania University for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff Saturday.
