Box Score NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – Manchester University jumped out to a quick lead on visiting Concordia University of Chicago, Ill., Sunday, Sept. 5, and junior goalkeeper Brady Forman (Hastings, Mich.) made it stand up.
Forman, collecting his third career blank sheet, picked up two saves amidst six Cougar shot attempts. His effort, coupled with goals from sophomore midfielder Ben Niederhelman (Ross, Ohio) and freshman forward Adrian Mulenga (Avon, Ind.), helped lift the Spartans to a 2-0 victory on Good Field at Spartan Soccer Complex.
Niederhelman's game winner, concluding a big six-point weekend in which he tabulated two goals and two assists, came from a pass off the foot of junior Tod Oram (Crown Point, Ind.) in the 12th minute. Just over 18 minutes later, Mulenga beat Concordia's goalkeeper to a free ball, dropping in the strike into an empty net for his first collegiate score.
Niederhelman topped the total shots category, ending with five. He and senior forward Ola Ladapo (London, England) combined for nine of the team's 17 attempts.
MU, sitting at 2-0, continues a nine-match home set Friday and Saturday, Sept. 9 and 10. They host Blackburn University of Illinois and Moody Bible Institute of Illinois as part of the annual Anderson University – Manchester University Raven-Spartan Classic.
