Box Score 4 NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Manchester University baseball team put together an outstanding weekend against Rose-Hulman and Anderson University. The Black & Gold swept the Fightin' Engineers on Saturday afternoon at Gratz Field. MU then followed with a split against Anderson in Sunday's twin bill.
Weekend Notes:
* Manchester's pitching against Rose-Hulman was phenomenal on Saturday. Junior Austin Kresl (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) pitched 10 complete innings in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader. Kresl allowed just 1 run on 6 hits. He posted 5 strikeouts and threw only 98 pitches – 71 of which were strikes. Senior Keegan Stevens (Rensselaer, Ind./Rensselaer Central) was sterling in relief, allowing just 1 hit in 2 innings of work. Stevens picked up his second win of the season following MU's 2-1 win over RHIT in 12 innings.
* Manchester's walk-off in the 12th inning against Rose was setup by a single by Brady Perez (Rochester, Ind./Rochester), an error by Rose, and a sacrifice bunt by Cole Filson (Plymouth, Ind./Plymouth). Zach Thomas (Lowell, Ind./Lowell) came in as a pinch runner and scored following a single through the left side off the bat of Hunter Seegers (Westport, Ind./South Decatur).
* Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Fightin' Engineers saw more soldi pitching from the Spartans.
* CJ Williams (Pendleton, Ind./Pendleton Heights) improved to 2-0 after he went 6.2 innings allowing only 2 runs and 5 hits. Michael Pinarski (Goshen, Ind./Goshen) came picked up his first save of the season after preserving MU's 1-run lead in the 9th. Pinarski ended the game with back-to-back strikeouts.
* Offensively in Game 2, Jacob Van Pelt (Parker City, Ind./Delta) launched a home run to left and drove in a pair of runs. Michael Pinarski doubled twice and drove in a run.
* On Sunday afternoon, Manchester's offense put up 10 runs on 11 hits in the first of two games against the rival Anderson Ravens.
* Michael Pinarski, Austin Knowles, and Max Bridgewater all collected two hits in the opener.
* Brady Perez and Joe Henschel (Huntertown, Ind./Carroll) each had two RBI.
* Starting pitcher Carter Hooks (Rochester, Ind./Rochester threw 6.1 innings and struck out 4 en route to his first win of the season. Zach White (Logansport, Ind./Logansport) relieved Hooks, throwing 2.2 innings and earning his first career save.
* Manchester's only loss of the weekend came in Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader in which the Ravens won 12-2 in 8 innings.

* Winners of five of their last six games, the Spartans will look to continue their hot play on Friday afternoon against Bluffton University. First pitch from Gratz Field is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday will feature a doubleheader.
