Box Score NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Manchester Spartans used a pair of first half goals to down rival Anderson University 2-1 in men's soccer action at Spartan Stadium. Friday's contest was the final game of the regular season for both squads.
Manchester will play at Hanover College next week in a third-place contest.
Senior Josh Gonzalez (Portage, Ind./Portage) scored the game's first goal in the 7th minute, converting a penalty kick after an Anderson foul in the box. Gonzalez has scored three goals this spring.
Just two minutes later, Harley Kruschwitz (North Manchester, Ind./Manchester) was able to find the back of the net for the sixth time this spring to put the Black & Gold ahead 2-0. Ruben Gonzalez (Sylvania, Ohio/Sylvania Northview) was credited with an assist on the Kruschwitz goal.
The Ravens' lone goal of the match was delivered in the 35th minute by R.J. Macomber.
On the day, the Spartans held a 13-8 advantage in shots taken. Manchester also earned 7 corner kicks to Anderson's 5.
The Spartans improved to 6-3 HCAC this spring. Anderson fell to 1-7-1 HCAC.
