Box Score 3 DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Manchester University baseball team collected a trio of victories against Defiance College after sweeping this weekend's three-game set against the Yellow Jackets.
Manchester opened the weekend series with an 8-6 victory on Friday afternoon. The Black & Gold then swept Sunday's doubleheader, winning by final scores of 5-3 and 5-4.

Weekend Notables:
* In Friday night's victory, Michael Pinarski (Goshen, Ind./Goshen) provided a power surge with 3 home runs. Pinarski finished 4-5 at the plate with 3 runs score and 4 RBI. His third homer of the game in the 6th inning tied the game at 6-6. MU would go on to score once in the 8th and 9th innings to seal the victory.
* CJ Williams (Pendleton, Ind./Pendleton Heights) threw 4.0 scoreless innings in relief to earn his third victory on Friday.
* In Game 1 of Sunday's DH, the Spartans utilized a 4-run top of the 6th inning to clip the Yellow Jackets.
* Zach White (Logansport, Ind./Logansport) delivered a run-scoring single through the left side that scored Michael Pinarski.
* Jacob Van Pelt (Parker City, Ind./Delta) then delivered a two-run double to right center that put the Spartans ahead 4-3. Austin Knowles (Nassau, Bahamas/Athens Christian (Ga.)) capped rally with an RBI single to left.
* Starting pitcher Carter Hooks (Rochester, Ind./Rochester) struck 6 in 6.0 innings en route to his third win of the spring. Keegan Stevens (Rensselaer, Ind./Rensselaer Central) did not allow a hit in 3.0 innings of relief. He picked up his second save of the year.
* The Spartans broke through with 3 runs in the top of 4th in the second game of the day on Sunday.
* Alex Morr (Bryan, Ohio/Bryan) and Cole Filson (Plymouth, Ind./Plymouth) hit back-to-back run scoring doubles to get the Spartans on the scoreboard. Brett Kron (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) added an RBI single to center in the inning.
* The Black & Gold would add single runs in the 5th and 6th innings.
* Defiance College did make things interested down the stretch after scoring three times in the 7th and once more in the 9th.
* An RBI triple by Defiance cut Manchester's lead to just 5-4 with two outs in the final inning. With the tying run just 90 feet away, Jacob Van Pelt was able to get DC's Lane Good to fly out to left to end the game.
Up Next:
* Manchester's sweep improved their standing to 15-16 on the season. MU will travel to Rose-Hulman on Saturday, May 1, for another HCAC doubleheader.
