North Manchester, Ind. – The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) has announced its Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, with Manchester University earning two of the conference's top honors following standout performances at the Pioneer Invite.
Gavin Byerly was named HCAC Men's Distance Athlete of the Week after a dominant showing in the 1500 meters. Byerly captured the event title with a time of 3:53.71, a mark that currently leads the HCAC by a wide margin of 10 seconds. His performance also ranks first in the Great Lakes Region and third nationally, further solidifying his position as one of the top distance runners in NCAA Division III this season.
Kenneth Redd, Jr. earned HCAC Men's Jumps Athlete of the Week honors following an impressive performance in the long jump. Redd recorded a personal-best leap of 7.14 meters to claim the event win at the Pioneer Invitational. While the mark would rank first nationally, regionally, and in the conference, it is not eligible for official ranking due to the absence of a wind gauge at the meet. Regardless, his jump stands as the second-best mark in Manchester program history and ranks seventh all-time in HCAC history.
